Profession Specific Boards (PSBs): Members

CNHC has a Profession Specific Board (PSB) for each of the eighteen professions it registers. PSBs provide advice to the CNHC Board about therapy-specific issues and are a key element of CNHC’s structure.

Erica Donnison

Erica is a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) and has been teaching the Alexander Technique since she qualified in 2004. She teaches individuals and groups and likes to apply her knowledge to activities such as running, swimming and horse riding. She is an active member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique Research Group having been instrumental in setting it up during her time on the STAT Council from 2008 – 2013. She is particularly interested in spreading the word about the benefits of the Alexander Technique, and encouraging research into how the Technique works.
 

Liz Tunnicliffe

Liz qualified from the Professional Association of Alexander Teachers (PAAT) training course in 1998. Since then she has been teaching the Alexander Technique to individuals and to groups in a wide variety of settings. She qualified as an Assistant Training Course Director of the PAAT Training Course in 2009 and is involved, with colleagues, in the regular planning and running of CPD events. She is committed to exploring ways of making the Alexander Technique more widely available.

Dinesh Kotecha

With a deep-seated interest in natural health and massage since childhood, Dinesh trained with Aromatherapy Associates from 1998 to 2000 and subsequently trained directly under Madame Micheline Arcier. His key areas of interest are clinical massage and aromatherapy; natural skincare and cosmetic products; training and education; and workplace massage. He is dedicated to holistic and natural health principles for both complementary therapy and as lifestyle regime. Dinesh has been involved with the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) for many years - providing treatments at trade stands, teaching, examining and speaking publicly for them in both the UK and overseas. He served on the IFA Council for three years, and was elected as Chair from October 2010 to October 2012. He is also a member of the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA).

Paul Dunn

Paul has trained in a number of personal support modalities since 2002 including NLP, coaching and bodywork therapies; he applies his training  in the voluntary sector. Now with a leaning towards Bowen Technique, he is currently working as an Honorary Therapist at an NHS complementary therapy unit supporting cancer and palliative care treatments. Paul is helping the Unit to complete research into The Bowen Technique to determine where and how it could best be applied and is keen to further the quantity of evidence based research within the Bowen field.

Anne-Lise Miller

Anne-Lise has been a practitioner and trainer of Colonic Hydrotherapy for more than 20 years.
Her interest in nutrition, health and healing started at a very young age and is a true passion.
She remains dedicated to improving her knowledge and has a ferocious appetite for new research and development in human biology, health and healing.

Emma Dalton

Emma is a member of the International Cranial Association (ICrA) having trained at The Karuna Institute from 2005-07. She is a multidisciplinary practitioner and has a busy practice in Suffolk offering biodynamic craniosacral therapy, homeopathy, medical herbalism and functional medicine. She has completed a PGCE in lifelong learning specialising in CAM from The University of Huddersfield. She teaches the general public as well as CPD courses in a variety of subjects and has assisted on an Intro to CST course at Karuna.  She has completed a wide variety of CPD courses in craniosacral therapy from most of the CST colleges and works in a clinic alongside osteopaths and physiotherapists.
 

Howard Evans

Howard has been practising craniosacral therapy since 1996 after completing his training with Franklyn Sills (then) at the Craniosacral Therapy Education Trust. He had previously trained in integrative and core process psychotherapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Thai Massage.

Howard completed his Masters Degree in Therapeutic Bodywork at the University of Westminster in 1997. His thesis explored the importance of ‘listening’ within both the psychotherapeutic and craniosacral relationship.

He has been teaching since 1994 and is a published author.

Jim Brant

Rebecca Brewster

Rebecca was formally trained as a Healer in 1996, under the supervision of Paulina Baumé, tutor and then vice president of the NFSH (National Federation of Spiritual Healers).
The NFSH evolved into the Healing Trust and in November 2019 Rebecca was co-opted onto the Board of trustees, where she steered the rebranding of the Trust until October 2022. During her time on the board she also supported meetings with UK Healers regarding training and the development of Healing nationwide.  Rebecca works as an integrative health practitioner both nationally and internationally and more recently began working along side Dr Sukhdev Singh, a consultant gastroenterologist at University Hospitals Birmingham. 

Rebecca Donaghue

Becky is a Healer with a professional private practice and a teacher of energy work delivering courses in personal and spiritual development as well as healing skills. She is a graduate of the Barbara Brennan Healing School (2008), a Hatha Yoga teacher and has other therapeutic training.
Becky is passionate about education and bringing awareness to energy and healing work as 'life-skills' accessible to everyone. She brings analytical understanding from her degrees at Oxford and Georgetown, experience in decision-making from work in financial services as a strategy consultant and a realistic practical focus from being a mum to five.  

Dr Kate Beaven-Marks

An experienced clinical hypnotist, with special interests in pain and anxiety, working with a wide range of hypnotherapeutic approaches, in ward settings, in an NHS teaching hospital, as well as with private clients. Passionate about effective teaching, Kate teaches and examines widely, including Further Education and Higher Education (MSc Clinical Hypnosis programme) and presents nationally and internationally on a range of topics relating to hypnosis. Recent research projects have included exploring mindfulness and anxiety effects on hypnotic susceptibility and the influence of the hypnotherapy National Occupational Standards on teaching, learning and professionalism in the UK.
 

Georgina Broom

Following her completion of a BA(Hons) in Communication and subsequent positions within blue-chip advertising agencies in both Southampton and London, Georgina undertook training in hypnotherapy, obtaining her Diploma qualification in 2005. She has now been with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) for 10 years and in which she holds both a Senior Executive position and Senior Practitioner status registration. Her responsibilities range from addressing the daily queries raised by both the public and the 3,000 plus membership, representing the GHR at relevant functions and professional association meetings, and serving on the assessment panel that carries out the initial review of training courses for submission for accreditation to the GHR’s overseeing body, the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).
 

Garry Coles

Garry was part of the first and, so far, only cohort in the UK to be awarded an MSc in Clinical Hypnotherapy. Garry’s MSc research studied the effectiveness of pre-surgical hypnosis in the recovery of patients undergoing breast cancer biopsies. Garry has been a full time practitioner for over a decade with five busy practices in Surrey, Hampshire and London. These include working in an oncology unit at a major hospital and within a GP surgery. In addition to working with patients, Garry regularly offers mentoring and supervision and is also in demand as a guest lecturer and conference presenter.

Linda Belcher

Linda spent 32 years in a commercial environment – mainly within the field of Personnel HR Management.  She came to holistic practice following a career crisis at the end of 2005 and she understands the negative effects of stress on mind and body.  Following some successful, effective kinesiology treatments she was impressed by the holistic approach and non-judgemental techniques used. Wanting to learn more she attended the training and qualified in 2007.  As well as running a busy clinic she now also loves passing on this valuable knowledge by teaching students the Kinesiology Association (KA) Foundation course and Professional Diplomate in Kinesiology. Linda is also a proud Trustee of the Kinesiology Association.
 

Andy Cawley

After studying with the Classical Kinesiology school, Andy has been practicing Kinesiology professionally for 15 years and has been a member of the Kinesiology Federation during that time. Andy has spent 9 years as a member of the Kinesiology Federation's Policy Board where he has taken an interest in policy development matters and has worked to support the profession gaining recognition with the CNHC. Andy holds an M.Sc. in health policy from the London school of economics.  He is excited to be part of bringing the benefits of Kinesiology to a wider audience.
 

Marcia Fletcher

Marcia is a member of the Kinesiology Federation and qualified as a kinesiologist in 2003. Her earlier career included roles in the field of health and science:MRC research in virology, NHS Department of Communicable Diseases, Researcher Department of Complementary Medicine, and roles in business marketing.   Working as a multidisciplinary practitioner in Devon she uses kinesiology, emotional freedom technique, nutrition, and functional biochemistry in her practice. She teaches Touch for Health Levels 1-4, which form part of the roadmap to becoming a kinesiology practitioner. With her scientific background,she is involved in CAM research, is the KF contact of the Integrated Health Collaborative (IHC) and the Research Council of Complementary Medicine (RCCM). She continues to develop her knowledge and skills through ongoing CPD courses and is committed to raising the profile of kinesiology with the public.
 

Miranda Welton

Miranda is Principal of the Progressive Kinesiology Academy UK EST. 2001 and trained in kinesiology in 1994, gaining professional status with the Kinesiology Federation in 1996, then International status in 2014, and runs a complementary healthcare practice in Essex. She has also undertaken the Touch for Health Instructor training in 1999 and undertook the Certified in Education completing this in 2000  As well as teaching she has undertaken Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance and External Quality Assurance qualifications and has worked for a number of years as an External Verifier for various Awarding Bodies.   

She started out teaching in Adult Education from 1997 going on to teach VTCT and AOR courses and now mainly teaches under the Progressive Kinesiology banner Miranda has been the Tutors Representative for the Association of Natural Medicine (ANM) and is a member of the Kinesiology Federation Policy Board as part of the Training and Development Team. The PSB is the fulfilment of an ambition to have kinesiology recognised in the UK. 

Jennie Lloyd

Jen Lloyd is a practising sports massage therapist in the North West of England for 16 years and counting. Jen is also qualified in various other massage techniques, Sports rehabilitation (BSc), Acupuncture, Biomechanics and Kinesiology. Jen’s area of post graduate focus was in Biomechanics and Gait Analysis and she also has a particular area of interest in women’s health, pregnancy anatomy and has completed Post Graduate studies in Pregnancy Manipulation, Pregnancy and Fertility Acupuncture, Pregnancy Rehabilitation and Pregnancy Massage. As a private practice owner Jen is now evolving into an educator after 16 years’ experience in training and mentoring new graduates at her private practices and is dedicated to maintain and growing her profession as a whole. Jen’s academic research is currently focussed in Oncology.

Maria Mercati

Maria has been teaching and practising acupuncture and Tui Na for over 20 years. To date she has studied acupuncture in China 13 times at TCM hospitals in Shanghai, Wehai, Beijing, Xian and Jinan since 1992. Maria is an internationally published author of two Tui Na books and a Thai massage book. She established Acupuncture- Acutherapy Council (AcuC) which is a register of practitioners of Traditional acupuncture and acupressure. Maria was an active member of both the Acupuncture stakeholders group and the Microsystems Acupuncture Regulatory Working Group. She is committed to furthering the educational and professional standards of acupuncturists.
 

Amanda Shayle

Following a 15-year career in media sales management and business development, Amanda's increasing interest in holistic medicine, resulted in her qualifying as a Practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in 2005. She has since become a senior lecturer and joint head of research and development for the College of Chinese Medicine, London, and is Vice Chairman of The Acupuncture Society, a professional association. She has a special interest in women's health. She lectures in Cosmetic Acupuncture and runs a private online forum, to encourage safe, informed practice as well as research projects. Amanda is committed to promoting the integration of acupuncture into the NHS and developing robust scientific CAM research methods and has been actively involved in this regard over the past 5 years.
 

Jonathan Tarr

Jonathan is a Traditional (TCM) Acupuncturist, Auricular Acupuncturist, Shiatsu practitioner and teacher of Oriental Medicine, Fellow of The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, Principal of the British College of Auricular Acupuncture, Chair of The Society of Auricular Acupuncturists, Senior Lecturer for The College of Auricular Acupuncture and has actively been leading Microsystems Acupuncture into voluntary regulation with the CNHC.

Tom Greenfield

Tom graduated in naturopathy and osteopathy in 1996 from the College of Osteopaths, and from the Craniosacral Therapy Educational Trust in 1998. He has taught naturopathy to undergraduates, has presented internationally to naturopathic and medical doctors, published articles on naturopathy and presented at naturopathic conferences internationally, as well as presenting to and tutoring osteopaths on a biodynamic approach to osteopathy. He is academic dean of the Institute for Human Individuality, He is Vice-President of the British Naturopathic Association, a former President of the UK General Council and Register of Naturopaths and is an overseas member of the College Council of Endeavour College of Natural Health, Australia.

Tom runs an integrative medicine clinic and serology laboratory, and includes in his own naturopathic medicine practice osteopathy, craniosacral therapy and medical acupuncture. He is committed to raising the standards of naturopathic education and scope of practice in the UK.

Karin Elgar

Karin has been practising as a Nutritional Therapist in the Greater Manchester area since graduating from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in 2004.  She specialises in female health and autoimmunity, and has worked alongside consultants, GPs and a variety of other complementary therapists.

Over the past five years Karin has been involved in practitioner training on behalf of supplement companies, providing CPD events, technical support, and product training. She is an engaged member of BANT where she served a three year term on the Professional Practice Committee, was regional co-ordinator and is currently an indexer for the nutrition evidence database.
 

Paula Werrett

Paula is a member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and has 15 years’ experience as a nutritional therapist, qualifying at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in 2004. Paula specialises in digestive and autoimmune issues and recently completed her Masters in Professional Studies at the University of Middlesex.  In addition to her 1:2:1 work, Paula is Head of Courses at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition; previously worked as a BANT Clinical Supervisor and is an accreditation officer for the Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC).

Letitia Kapuscinska

Letitia has been working as a complementary therapist for 10 years.  She completed her foundation degree in 2013 at University of Bedfordshire, specialising in Reflexology, then was trained by the International Federation of Aromatherapy (IFA) in Aromatherapy, Indian head massage, hot stones therapy, hot cupping and pregnancy massage. Before her foundation degree she specialised in the sporting side of therapy through her BTEC national diploma in health and fitness. She then topped up with a BSc in Healthcare then further developed to do a postgraduate in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Birkbeck University. She currently works within a private hospital and with private patients, supporting people with cancer and autism.

Amanda McAuley

Amanda McAuley is currently the Level 5 Reflexology tutor for Jubilee College in London. She also teaches at St Mary's University in Twickhem and proves Reflexology in the Oncology department in a private hospital in Harley Street. Her teaching career began with Reiki and Massage therapy in 2017, she then qualified as a Level 5 Reflexology tutor. 
With 9 years of experience in the industry, Amanda provides Reflexology, Reiki, and Massage. She is still very active with hands-on work practicing all of her therapies.
Amanda strongly believes in the power of Holistic therapies. This inspired her to open her treatment centre in 2016, which enabled her to receive GP referrals. She also has a Corporate Reflexology agency in London.

Jayne Topham

Jayne has a background in Financial Services and Local Government. With over 20 years of Compliance, Management and Training experience. Having benefited from Reflexology herself, she moved her career when she had her second child to training privately with a Reflexology School in Norwich. 22 years on she has studied many types of reflexology and became a Reiki & Seichem master 19 years ago too. Still passionate about the therapy she runs a busy practice and also holds one day workshops to help people use reflexology on themselves and family. Jayne believes in the importance of standard of training and regulation of the industry.

Tracey Smith

Tracey has been a reflexologist since 1997. Previously she had completed a BSc honours degree in applied biology and immunology which culminated in a career as a molecular biologist at several major London teaching hospitals. She is Head of Reflexology Support and Research at the Association of Reflexologists (AoR), a Fellow of the Association of Reflexologists and a practising reflexologist and reiki master. 
In 2002, she joined the AoR on a part-time basis to increase understanding and acceptance of reflexology through research. She is a regular speaker at conferences, has written reflexology articles and published scientific papers. Tracey works part-time for the Association whilst also running her private reflexology practise.  

As part of her employed role with the Association of Reflexologists she influences on behalf of reflexology at a varied selection of organisations and conferences including the Integrative Health Collaborative and Integrated Medical Alliance as part of the College of Medicine. 

Anne-Marie Carratu

Anne-Marie’s Reiki journey began in 2001 and she became a Reiki Master Teacher in 2006, teaching traditional Usui Reki Ryoho. She is a qualified teacher and assessor who has a passion to continue raising the standards for teaching, learning and practising Reiki and to that end, became a member of the Reiki Profession Specific Board in 2018. Anne-Marie is Chair of the UK Reiki Federation and also part of the Education team. One of her roles as Chair is attending meetings held by the Integrated Healthcare Collaborative (IHC), who are a collection of 24 leading professional associations working together to increase access to complementary therapies and promoting greater integration with conventional Western medicine.
 

Andy Chrysostomou

Andy has been practicing Reiki since 2000 and teaching Reiki since 2001. Reiki quickly became a centre-point for his life and Andy is now an experienced and dedicated Reiki teacher and practitioner and has taught many hundreds of students traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho. Andy is passionate about Reiki and feels that Reiki needs to be taught and used in a professional way and always to follow best practice to promote Reiki in a positive light both to the public and to the medical professions.
 

Kate Jones

Kate discovered the benefits of Reiki helped her cope following the sudden death of her father in 1987. She learned Reiki in 1989 and became a Reiki master in 1991. She has a passion for this practice and in particular for Reiki being accessible to those who need it and for Reiki practitioners to be of a good standard. Her experience includes 12 years working for The Reiki Association, representing the Association and Reiki Alliance on the Reiki Regulatory Working Group and Reiki Council, helping to develop the first Reiki National Occupational Standards (NOS) in 2005 and the revisions for the Complementary and Natural Healthcare NOS in 2009. She also helped to develop the Reiki Council Core Curriculum for professional Reiki practitioners. She is honoured to be on the Reiki PSB.
 

Jeanne Long

Jeanne’s amazing Reiki journey started in 1999, reaching Reiki Master/Teacher in 2000, forming The Reiki Connection (TRC) in 2004.

2005 found Jeanne in the Reiki Regulatory Working Groups (RRWG) team, (along with Kate Jones) helping develop the National Occupational Standards for Reiki.  

In 2008 TRC became a founder member association of the Reiki Council (R.C.), with Jeanne being the R.C. Treasurer and R.C. Verifications Officer. Jeanne holds a C&G Adult Teaching Certificate and an Open University Degree on health related subjects including ‘Perspectives on Complementary & Alternative Medicine’ She became a member of the Reiki Profession Specific Board in 2006.  Her passion is promoting the benefits of, and teaching, Reiki for Professional Practice.

Tamsin Grainger

Tamsin has 25 years’ Shiatsu experience She has Practitioner and Teacher membership of Shiatsu Society (SSUK ) and has served as a committee and Board member of SSUK as well as being its Chair. Tamsin has a wealth of experience in setting up and running Shiatsu clinics, and teaching for diverse organisations such as Fife Health Board (baby Shiatsu to health visitors), the Scottish Office (self-help classes for employees), primary and secondary schools (Shiatsu for stress), and BodyPositive, a charity for those who are HIV positive and their carers. Tamsin has completed a great deal of CPD over the years in specialist areas such as cancer and bereavement, fertility, pregnancy and working with babies/children and has a busy practice interested in MS, ME, IBS and mental health. She recently acted as mediator for a national organisation, being interested in balanced discussion and debate, efficient administration and harmonious communication.

Adam Hellinger

Adam has practised and taught Shiatsu for over 25 years. Teaching and training in different schools with a variety Shiatsu styles and approaches both in the UK and Europe. He has been a director and Vice Chair of the Shiatsu Society and have worked with the CNHC in this capacity promoting and developing a greater profile of the CNHC within the Shiatsu community.

Adam also organised a Shiatsu conference in 2018 for the UK with a focus on wellbeing and raising the public profile of Shiatsu and its potential benefits, regulation in relation to the public plays an important part and role in this.

Yvonne Blake

Yvonne is a clinical sports therapist with a BSC and MSc in Sports Therapy and is qualified to level 5 in sports massage. Yvonne taught sports massage in FE for 15 years and still teaches in the private sector. She owns a private practice predominantly working with CrossFit athletes.

Yvonne has worked in the health and fitness industry for 25 years and was involved in the writing of the latest Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) sports massage qualifications. Her specialist interest is quality assurance and she is a qualified assessor as well as an internal and external verifier. She is a serving member on the board of directors of the Sports Massage Association.


Cassandra Gramozi

Cassandra graduated from North London School of Sports Massage (NLSSM) in 2008. She has over a decades experience of working in elite sport and currently works for the Football Association as a consultant Soft Tissue Therapist to the U21's Men's England. She also is the Manager of NLSSM and a lead lecturer on their Level 5 Diploma course in Sports Massage and Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy

Michael Brown-Frazer

Michael is a clinical sports and remedial massage therapist with over 20 years hands-on experience, working across the corporate, health, wellbeing and elite sports sectors. After graduating with a BA Sport & Fitness Studies degree, he worked as a Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer, gaining further qualifications in (Level V) Sports Massage and Advanced Sports Therapy.

Michael works across the Manchester region, with additional Strength & Conditioning qualifications enabling him to tailor treatment solutions more effectively. He has worked with the Manchester Giants Basketball team, GB athletes and Para-athletes across Swimming, Athletics and Taekwondo as well as professional footballers.

Colin Dunsmuir

Colin is an experienced yoga teacher trainer, yoga therapist trainer and supervisor teaching full time in central London.

He has spent over 25 years practicing, studying and teaching yoga, and has been registered with the CNHC as a yoga therapist since 2010.

He has been involved in numerous studies and yoga therapy projects including teaching yoga to excluded young people in pupil referral units, teaching yoga as part of a prison wellness team and measuring the impact of yoga on the quality of life of those in a hospice.

Colin is passionate about working inclusively with all styles of practice and other modalities such as medical doctors, osteopaths, physiotherapists and psychotherapists, using yoga therapy as complementary discipline.
 

Michelle Helstrip

Michelle Helstrip BA(Hons) Dips.Yoga (Qi, Dru, BWY) & Yoga Therapy (Dru Back Care & Prenatal) is a Cambridgeshire-based yoga therapist specializing in helping clients with chronic back pain, working closely with other disciplines from the Complementary Medicine arena to offer a holistic approach. With a long-term interest in raising the profile of complementary therapies in the UK, she has attended a number of multi-disciplinary forums and seminars designed to achieve this objective.

Michelle also designs, develops & delivers yoga workshops for experienced teachers both in the UK and overseas, in culturally diverse environments.
 

Vidhi Sohdi

Vidhi is a yoga therapist; mentor and course leader in Krishnamacharya tradition. She has authored articles in yoga and patient group magazines. She supported Central Middlesex Hospital (CMH) rheumatology patient group with patient driven audits resulting in experience with long-term inflammatory conditions and a first in UK pilot study of Yoga Therapy in Rheumatoid Arthritis due to commence at CMH. She has plans for collaborative larger research studies with University of Westminster and Imperial College. She will take Yoga Therapy in Krishnamacharya tradition into the first modular introductory course at Imperial College School of Medicine curriculum (3rd Year 2017).
