Michael started his career as a police officer in Greater Manchester, where he served for around 11 years. From there, he moved into the ombudsman sector at the national Energy Ombudsman, and as Operations Manager he was a leader in a large investigations department. His first role in regulation was as a Lay Case Examiner at Social Work England, a role he still fills today. Alongside this, Michael sits on the Independent Decision-Making Body of the Bar Standards Board, on the Investigating Committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and on the Disciplinary Tribunal for the regulator of Chartered Legal Executives.
As a keen runner, Michael has utilised complementary healthcare to keep him on the road, so has first hand experience of the impact that accessing such care has on people’s lives. He recognises the hugely important role that the CNHC plays in protecting the public and upholding public confidence in complementary healthcare.
