Volunteer Opportunity for complementary therapists at UCLH, London
CNHC registered practitioners are invited to apply to volunteer as part of the team at University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre. The Centre is looking for complementary therapists to provide sessions to inpatients within the hospital. Practitioners must be experienced at delivering aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and reiki to clients with health issues.
Therapists are directly managed by Voluntary Services and deliver sessions to inpatients (not oncology) throughout the main UCH Tower. Treatments tend to be a series of one off sessions, rather than ongoing treatments due to the turnaround of patients within the Tower, although there can be some ‘regulars’. Chatting with patients is encouraged and this is often as important as the session.
Patients book sessions directly with Voluntary Services, and therapists when use this list to visit patients in the Tower. Therapists check in with clinical staff on arrival at a ward, and then deliver sessions at the bedside. As such they look for qualified therapists whom have a lot of prior experience of working with diverse groups, and know how to work with different health conditions.
Requirements for the role:
- Availability to work for 3 hours: 10am – 5pm weekdays
- 6 months commitment to the role
Closing date: 30 June 2016: 23:59
