CNHC registered massage therapists, aromatherapists and reflexologists required for volunteer roles

Paul’s Cancer Support Centre in London is seeking CNHC registered massage therapists, aromatherapists and reflexologists who can offer a few hours a week to volunteer with the Centre’s Home Visiting team.

The Service
Paul’s Cancer Support Centre offers information, support, complementary therapies and self-help approaches for people with cancer, their relatives and friends.

The Home Visiting Service (HVS) offers massage, reflexology, spiritual healing and befriending to those who are too unwell or frail to come in to the Centre because they are undergoing treatment or receiving palliative care.  The HVS is also offered to carers who are unable to leave the house for any length of time.

Although Wandsworth-based, the HVS takes referrals from surrounding Boroughs through hospitals, GPs and self-referrals.  The Centre has volunteers from across London, in particular, south west, south east and central London.

Volunteering
The next training course for successful applicants will run over nine sessions from late April to mid-June 2014.  The training is spread across 5 Thursday evenings and 4 Saturdays.

Once the training is completed, volunteers are asked to commit to 12 months with the Service. The Centre offers ongoing supervision and support for practitioners once they are visiting clients.

If you are interested in applying to join the Home Visiting Service volunteer team, please contact Jessica or Clare at hvisits@paulscancersupport.org.uk or 020 7924 3924.

For more information on the service, visit the website. The Centre will be holding an information evening for prospective applicants on 12th February 2014

Closing date for applications: 20th March 2014.
